Enval has won the "Best New Technology" prize at the National Recycling Awards. The NRA reward and support recycling and waste management achievements across all sectors of business.
The Best New Technology award is presented to the organisation that has created or employed a new technology, providing the most positive impact and advantage to waste management. Enval's technology for the recycling of laminated packaging materials won its category thanks to its innovative nature and potential improvement of UK resources and waste management.
Enval announces that it has partnered with some well-known consumer goods brand owners to support the construction of a commercial-scale facility for Enval's patented material recovery technology.
Enval has been selected as a finalist in the "Best Technology" category at the National Recycling Awards. The NRA reward and support recycling and waste management achievements across all sectors of business. The Best Technology category recognises innovation and positive impacts on waste management.
There are over 70 shortlisted companies across fifteen categories. "These finalists demonstrate outstanding quality, innovation and best practice throughout their entries, proving the UK recycling and waste management industry is a dynamic and exciting place to be a part of," said Paul Sanderson, the editor of MRW.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Thursday 14 July 2011.
The well established Environment and Energy Awards celebrate excellence and innovation from businesses and technology providers in the market place. The judging is carried out by a number of industry experts, who, based on the judging criteria for each category, carefully select the shortlisted companies and category winners.
The Enval Process has been shortlisted for the Environmental Technology Innovation Award because it has demonstrated that it provides a service capable of decreasing the environmental impact of laminate packaging. There are four other shortlisted companies, including Sainsbury's, and winner will be announced at the ceremony in Birmingham on 24th May.
Enval's founders, Dr Carlos Ludlow and Professor Howard Chase, were awarded the prize in the Materials/Chemistry category of the ACES 2011 competition. The awards were judged by a panel of distinguished European business and academic leaders, taking into account factors such as the novelty of the finalists' research and its possible impact on society. They were particularly impressed by Enval's technology and large commercial potential.
Enval has been selected to be a finalist by Science|Business in the Materials/Chemistry category of the 2011 Academic Enterprise Awards, a pan-European competition among companies spun out from universities to recognise the best academic entrepreneurs.
Enval has been ranked Highly Commended in the Sustainable Technology category of the Institution of Chemical Engineers' (IChemE) annual awards, held on November 4th 2010, and was a finalist in the 'Engineering Project of the Year' award.

Enval Limited (Enval) has obtained backing from a syndicate of investors to scale up applications of its patented waste processing technology. The technology extracts commercially usable aluminium, oil and gas from laminated packaging waste, such as drink cartons (e.g. Tetra Pak) and toothpaste tubes, allowing the waste to be completely recycled in an economically viable way.
