“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards as we enter into an exciting time in our company’s development,” comments Enval Managing Director and CTO, Carlos Ludlow-Palafox. “Our process closes the loop in the life cycle of this valuable material, allowing more brands and more products to convert to this sustainable packaging format.”

Enval unlocks the potential of high performance materials using a novel recycling technology based on microwave-induced pyrolysis. The company has taken this process and applied it to creating the world’s first solution for recycling plastic aluminium laminate, an increasingly popular packaging material that currently has no responsible end of life solution.

Laminate is used extensively by Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies to improve the ratio of product-to-pack weight and reduce transport costs, but they are not currently recyclable and are generally sent to landfill. There is now more than 160,000 tonnes of this kind of packaging entering the UK marketplace each year, with volumes forecast to increase considerably in the coming years.

Enval has already received support from major multinational brands and is in the final stages of commissioning the first commercial demonstration plant for their recycling process. Enval will be exhibiting at RWM 2014 from 16 – 18 September, come and visit us at Stand 4G44.
